Rome’s water is drinkable. You can use tap water to fill your water bottle or for cooking.
On your walks around the city you will see small fountains called “nasone” (big nose). These are useful for cooling off in the summer and for filling your water bottles.
Rome is a large metropolis, pay attention to your pockets and backpacks when you are in crowded places such as the metro, buses or in line for some museum.
My advice: avoid bringing valuable things and passports. If you have a backpack keep it in front of you when you are in crowded places.
A private covered parking space is available and it is located on the -1 floor of the building.
It is ideal for cars up to 4.5 meters long and up to 1.8 meters wide. Larger cars may have difficulty maneuvering at the entrance.
The parking must be reserved.
The air conditioner is equipped with a timer with automatic shutdown at certain times for energy efficiency reasons. If it turns off at times when you need it, you can simply turn it back on using the remote control.
Please in any case turn it off before leaving. Upon your return, a few minutes will be enough to re-establish the preferred temperature inside the apartment.
Hot water is supplied by the electric water heater. The switch is located in the bathroom to the left of the mirror.
It is recommended to always leave the switch positioned on ON
If the switch is positioned on off, or all the hot water has run out, the water heater takes approximately 90/120 minutes to fully recharge.
After the shower, you are kindly asked to leave the bathroom door open to ensure better air circulation and avoid excessive condensation inside the bathroom.
We also recommend leaving at least the kitchenette window open to ensure better air circulation (there are mosquito nets and grates in all high windows).
The winter heating system is of a condominium type (single boiler for the entire building). The switching times are indicated by the condominium and usually include: switching on in the early morning and late afternoon until evening.
Each radiator is equipped with a thermostatic valve that allows you to regulate its power during the hours it is turned on.
Historical Roman pizzeria characterized by perennial row entry. Inside the pizzeria many pictures of famous customers. The pizza is the classical Roman pizza, very thin and of course it’s cooked in the wood oven. Do not miss the Bturbo. You will feel in Rome 60s!
It’s a “Osteria” restaurant with typical Roman food very near St. Peter Home and the Basilica. Very good pasta Carbonara and Cacio e pepe. Check always about the special dish of the day!
It’s a very good pizza restaurant just around the corner from the house! The pizza is cooked by wood oven and you can also eat the Italian cuisine of meat and fish. It’s the best solution near St. Peter Home. Ask for the home service!Amazing if you are tired after a long day in Rome.
Italian cuisine in a bistrot atmosphere. Bakery, Osteria, Pizza Parlor, and Cocktail Bar!
Family-run restaurant in the adjacent Prati district that offers homemade dishes and special homemade first courses, both Roman and otherwise. The pizza and gluten-free dishes are also excellent.
The famous Tonnarello tavern has recently landed in San Pietro too! Don’t miss the tonnarelli carbonara. The place is well-kept, the dishes are plentiful and the quality/price ratio is excellent.
It’s an historical pizzeria in the heart of Trastevere. Fantastic frieds. Here you can taste the real fish fried or rice balls with mozzarella in a carriage!
In the heart of Trastevere, it’s a typical “Osteria romana” (Roman tavern). Don’t miss it! Our favorite dishes: “Tonnarelli alla carbonara” and “polpette al sugo di mamma” (meatballs with mom’s sauce) drinking a glass of red wine. The restaurant is well known by both Romans and tourists… There will be the line to get inside but don’t be scare of that, you will love it!
It’s a “Osteria” restaurant with typical Roman food in Very good pasta and “Polpette cacio e pepe”
It’s another very good osteria with typical Roman food in Trastevere. Very good pasta and “Polpette cacio e pepe”.
Do you want meat? This is the right place for you! The best dishes here are Mixed meat appetizer, the Tartare and Tagliata. Have a good meal carnivores!
Do you want fish? Probably the best in the city.
Fast quality snack … from Puglia! Another nice local “Italian Fast Food” with southern flavors.

From the classic to the most imaginative, the Roman pizza is thin and crunchy! My advice is to enter inside the pizzeria and look around if there is a wood-burning oven, the best pizzas are cooked right there.
Before pizza you should always have some fried food. Try a supplì: delicious breaded and fried rice balls with mozzarella. Alternatively, or together with the supplì, why do not try a “fiore di zucca”, a fillet of cod or some “olive ascolane”? Otherwise, ask for a mixed fry and taste everything, it could be a great idea!
The traditional Roman cuisine is mainly composed of simple, popular and genuine ingredients for creating dishes with strong flavors. Some of the most famous dishes are with pasta! Here some of the most popular ones:
Cacio e pepe: It is one of the oldest and simplest dishes. Three ingredients: a good pasta, cacio and pepe. Something very simple but it requires to know the art of cooking until creamy. Freshly pepper and “pecorino romano” (roman cheese) are the only ingredients of this tasty and incredibly creamy pasta.
Carbonara: eggs, cheese, pancetta (it’s not bacon!) and pepper! Who doesn’t go crazy for carbonara? It is one of the main Roman gastronomic offer.
Gricia: it is more than an amatriciana without the souce!
Amatriciana: few and genuine ingredients: olive oil, pancetta (it’s not bacon), pecorino cheese, tomato and some chili pepper. Try eating it all without getting your shirt dirty.
Rigatoni con la pajata: rigatoni or other types of pasta with “pajata” (entrails of beef or veal). It is less known than other dishes buti t is a real traditional dish.
Among the second dishes of the Roman cuisine we cite the oven-roasted lamb, the “trippa alla romana” with sauce or with mint and peco
rino cheese, the roasted porchetta (the one from Ariccia is the most famous) and the artichokes “alla giudia” (fried in boiling oil, a recipe of Jewish origin). If you prefer white meat you must try the chicken with peppers or the rabbit. My advice is don’t miss the “saltimbocca alla romana” and the more classic and traditional meatballs with sauce.
At the end of the meal, of course, the dessert! The roman desserts are the “maritozzi con la panna”, the fresh ricotta and custard tarts, the tart of “Visciole” (it is a type of cherries) or the variant with ricotta and sour cherries. My advice is to end the meal with Tiramisu! Actually there are lots of kind of tiramisù but the classic is always the best, an irresistible mix of cacao, coffee and mascarpone.
Serious topic here in Rome… any Roman person has his favorite “gelateria” (the icecream shop). Asking where to find the “best roman gelato” could lead to endless debates! Anyway, here some useful information: first of all, the gelato in Rome can be small, medium or large and the classic cone has three flavors, more cream of course! Ask for a cone with double cream… My advice is to try various “gelateria” (ice cream shops), strictly HOMEMADE. If it is not clearly indicated that it is an “GELATERIA ARTIGIANALE” (homemade icecream) you will surely eat an industrial ice cream and believe me, it is not the same thing. So… you just should try as many homemade ice creams as possible, more flavours as possible and discovering your favorite roman “gelateria”!
The roman food tradition has lots of dishes to eat on the street… with your hands!
The king of the roman street food is for sure the “pizza al taglio”! “Pizza al taglio” is slice pizza. Unlike the traditional pizza, it is not cooked in a wood-fired oven but in an electric oven and it is cruncy outside and soft inside. Hundreds of different kind of flavours, you should try!
The trapizzino, is now also in Milan, Florence and New York. Trapizzino was born in one of the most famous Roman districts, “Testaccio” and it is a pizza in the shape of a sandwich, as tasty as the first and as practical as the second.
Not only pizza but also fried foods is a piece of the roman food tradition. You should try the supplì (the classics or the special like the amatriciana or cacio e pepe variants), the fried cod, or the “panzerotti”.
The Sandwiches are the street food over the world, but each city has its special ingredients from own tradition. The Roman sandwiches can go from sheep cheese to seasonal figs, from prosciutto to pecorino, from chicory to broccoli but the most famous is absolutley the “panino with porchetta di Ariccia”.
and most of its attractions can be easily reached on foot or by public transport. Using the car is highly discouraged due to the traffic, the ZTL (Areas forbiddend for cars) and the strong difficult for finding parking. Anyway the car can be very useful for visiting the very beautiful city surroundings (Villa Adriana and Villa D’Este in Tivoli, Ostia Antica, Castel Gandolfo and much more).
My advice: Without any doubt, the best way to visit the eternal city is by walking.
Reaching St. Peter square from the apartment takes few minutes, the dome is right there, few steps from your home. And do not be frightened by the queue to enter in St. Peter’s Basilica, the wait it will be amply rewarded by the sight of the majestic nave and the works that you will find inside it (first of all the famous Pietà by Michelangelo). You cannot miss the Vatican Museums whose entrance is located at north of the Papal State not far from St. Peter square. Here you will find one of the largest art collections in the world: a huge collection of works accumulated over the centuries by the popes, in addition to the Sistine Chapel and the wonderful papal apartments frescoed by Michelangelo and Raffaello. My advice is to buy the entry tickets online BEFORE your travel to Rome. Buy the ticket at the official website: www.museivaticani.va to be sure for buying the tickets at the correct price, then just go to the entrance about 15 minutes before the time indicated on your ticket. Important! especially in summer season, remidn to dress appropriately, the pants and skirts must cover the knees, and also the shoulders and arms must be covered (wearing a scarf to take off once you leave the Basilica can be a good idea).
Castel Sant’Angelo is only at few hundred meters from St. Peter square and my opinion is that visiting the castle should not be missed in any good city tour. The view of the Basilica from here is breathless.
Cross the Tiber through the Sant’Angelo bridge, one of the few pedestrian bridges in Rome, and when you will be on the other side of the river, don’t forget to take a picture of Castel Sant’Angelo from there. Now you are ready to get lost in the narrow streets of the historical city center and it can be the best way for experience Rome. Some treasures can be discovered behind every corner, as a church or a tavern to eat a real “carbonara” or a “cacio e pepe” with a good glass of red wine. You cannot miss Navona square, Campo de ‘Fiori, the Pantheon and a little further Piazza di Spagna and Trevi’s Fountain.
Via del Corso is the main Roman shopping street and in Via dei Condotti you will find the most prestigious roman shops. Via del Corso starts from Popolo square and it reachs the large Venice square located next the Campidoglio. From here, by via the Via dei Fori Imperiali, it is easy to reach the Colosseum. The visit of the Colosseum is a MUST for every traveler. The standard ticket includes the entrance for the visiting of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. My first advice for your visit to the Colosseum is to buy the ticket online before your travel (it is not easy to find it in high season). My second advice is to join a group with an official guide, so you can understand what the Colosseum was for Rome. My favourite tour is the FULL EXPERIENCE – UNDERGROUND LEVELS AND ARENA – GUIDED TOUR.
Trastevere is a very characteristic district of the eternal city, it’s known due to its traditional trattorias, pubs, breweries and craft shops. Here there are really many excellent taverns and pizzerias (some of my favorites “osteria” is here!). More it is one of the main evening meeting points for young Romans and foreigners.
Rome is an open-air museum and most of its attractions can be easily reached on foot or by public transport.
Here some info about the public transportation.
The bus line 64, also known as the tourists line bus, is very useful for visiting the historical city center and the Colosseum area. The bus 64 starts from the San Pietro Train Station, it crosses all the entire city center from West to East by “Corso Vittorio Emanuele II”. The last stop of the 64 bus is Termini. To go to the Colosseum, get off at Venice Square, then walk 5 minutes “via the Via dei Fori Imperiali” till reach the Colosseum.
Timetable: 05:00am – 24:00; Night line bus 24:00 – 05:00am
Tickets:
The subway in Rome has three lines (A, B and C). The subway cannot reach the historical city center due to it is not possible to build anything underground in that area, it is too rich in history. The major tourists interest subway stations are on the subway line A: Ottaviano San Pietro (Vatican Museums), Flaminio (Popolo square), Piazza di Spagna and San Giovanni (basilica). The most interesting station of the line B are Circo Massimo and Colosseo.
Timetable:
Tickets:
FL is the name of the Lazio railways operated by Trenitalia. It connects the city center with other roman districts and with some municipalities outside Rome. The FL5 line is useful in summer to reach some well-known seaside towns such “Santa Severa”, “Santa Marinella” and “Civitavecchia”. Other regional trains connect Rome San Pietro with Ostia, ancient Ostia, Castel Gandolfo, Tivoli and other places well known for Romans and tourists.
Wow… so many tickets for the Colosseum, which one is the best? My advice is to buy the ticket FULL EXPERIENCE – UNDERGROUND LEVELS AND ARENA – GUIDED TOUR. It includes a guided tour to the Colosseum Underground levels. I really love it.
Which are the most famous places in Rome? My advice is to look here!!!
My advice is, without any doubt, to visit the ethernal city is by walking. If you need public transport, have a look here!!!
If you reach Rome by car, my advice is to book the parking at least one week before the trip. Absolutely do not use the car for visiting the city! The car can be useful for visiting some beautiful place just outside the city like Tivoli, Ostia antica, Castel Gandolfo.
If you land to Fiumicino or Ciampino airport, my advice is to reach the city by a private transfer. You should book it at least a couple of days before the flight. This way, you will arrive in the shortest time, without stress and without any difficulty. After all, you are on holiday!
Waiting for a taxi can mean standing in long lines. While public transport is the cheapest option but requires much more time and stress, especially from Ciampino airport.
For more options and details about it, write us!
My advice is to enter inside the pizzeria and look around if there is a wood-burning oven, the best pizzas are cooked right there.
Be careful… if you cannot see the wood-burning oven, it is probably that the pizzeria cook the pizza by an electric oven! Or worst a microwave oven! In this case is a good idea to look for another pizzeria!
My advice is to go to a “gelateria” (ice cream shops), “artigianale” (HOMEMADE). If it is not clearly indicated that it is a “GELATERIA ARTIGIANALE” (homemade icecream) you will surely eat an industrial ice cream and believe me, it is not the same thing. So… look for the written “GELATERIA ARTIGIANALE”
My advice is to begin with a Pasta carbonara, then some meatballs with sauce (polpette al sugo) drinking a couple of glasses of red wine and finish with the Tiramisù! Buon appetito!
Where can I have dinner tonight? My advice is to look here!!!
If you are looking for a special place for some special moment… My advice is to look here!!!
Pickpockets in crowded places? My advices are: Beware on the metro, buses or in line for some museum; avoid bringing valuable things and passports around if you do not really need it; if you have a backpack, keep it in front of you when you are in crowded places.
Rome’s water is drinkable and on your walks around the city you will see small fountains called “nasone” (big nose).. My advice is to use it for filling your water bottle for free and for having a cooling off in the summer.
