My advice is, without any doubt, to visit the ethernal city is by walking. If you need public transport, have a look here!!!

RESERVE THE PARKING

If you reach Rome by car, my advice is to book the parking at least one week before the trip. Absolutely do not use the car for visiting the city! The car can be useful for visiting some beautiful place just outside the city like Tivoli, Ostia antica, Castel Gandolfo.

HOW TO REACH US

If you land to Fiumicino or Ciampino airport, my advice is to reach the city by a private transfer. You should book it at least a couple of days before the flight. This way, you will arrive in the shortest time, without stress and without any difficulty. After all, you are on holiday!
Waiting for a taxi can mean standing in long lines. While public transport is the cheapest option but requires much more time and stress, especially from Ciampino airport.

HOW TO CHOOSE A GOOD PIZZERIA

My advice is to enter inside the pizzeria and look around if there is a wood-burning oven, the best pizzas are cooked right there.

Be careful… if you cannot see the wood-burning oven, it is probably that the pizzeria cook the pizza by an electric oven! Or worst a microwave oven! In this case is a good idea to look for another pizzeria!

HOW TO CHOOSE A GOOD GELATO (ICECREAM)

My advice is to go to a “gelateria” (ice cream shops), “artigianale” (HOMEMADE). If it is not clearly indicated that it is a “GELATERIA ARTIGIANALE” (homemade icecream) you will surely eat an industrial ice cream and believe me, it is not the same thing. So… look for the written “GELATERIA ARTIGIANALE”

THE BEST ROMAN DINNER

My advice is to begin with a Pasta carbonara, then some meatballs with sauce (polpette al sugo) drinking a couple of glasses of red wine and finish with the Tiramisù! Buon appetito!

Pickpockets in crowded places? My advices are: Beware on the metro, buses or in line for some museum; avoid bringing valuable things and passports around if you do not really need it; if you have a backpack, keep it in front of you when you are in crowded places.

DRINKING WATER “Nasone”

Rome’s water is drinkable and on your walks around the city you will see small fountains called “nasone” (big nose).. My advice is to use it for filling your water bottle for free and for having a cooling off in the summer.
